Artist's Statement

A Chilean Printmaker and Painter, Monica graduated with her BA In Fine Arts in Santiago, Chile in 1986.

Over the last 17 years she has been practicing her unique style of art, while participating in several exhibitions in Chile, the United States, Brazil and South Korea. Eight years ago Monica moved to the U.S. and settled on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.

Nature plays an integral role in all of Monica's work, as does the interaction between human beings and wildlife. Because of this, Monica donates a percentage of all sales to the Mangrove Action Project, a non-profit organization.

"In this time when violence and disharmony seem so commonplace, I want my art to reflect a better world with more magic, poetry and hope. Attempting through art, to help revive the spirit, and change the hearts of some people who may have lost their balance or connection with nature."

The art presented in this virtual gallery, includes mixed media, woodcuts, monotype and acrylic paintings. The Prints are limited editions. Some prints are artist proofs (a/p). They are unique and original.

"I made them to try different colors and possibilities. It is art in progress until I get the one that I am satisfied with to make my limited edition."
